I have a smart Group that I would like to delete but it is populated by profiles and applications that no longer exist. How do I delete these instances if they do not exist? Another question...I've asked this before and got an answer, I tried to search for that answer, could not find it...how does one search by author? I also looked at what I have posted and a bunch of posts I've made over the years are not present. Is there a usable search function that I'm not seeing here?

Multiple "Disks" on one drive (for MS SQL)
Hi everyone,
I'm new to virtualization world, and I hope to find some answers or at less some orientations to insepct.
I'm dealing with MS SQL databases.
On of best practices in dealing with SQL DBs is the separation between Data and log files, and the the system databases ... on different physical drives.
The thing is easy to make on physical server, witch is not the same thing on virtual environment (Or at less, that is what I think)
If we take a case we have 4 SSD drives, by making an RAID 5, I get one "drive" in vSphere, so how can I get separate drives?
I hope if I have possibility to create some kind of (multiples) virtual partitions on each physical drive and then make a RAID on.
Is that can be possible?

Software Components in VRA 8
In vRA 7.x I am using software components to run PowerShell scripts when the OS is deployed in a particular lifecycle stage.
What is the equivalent area to do this in vRA 8? I don't see anything. I went into Code Stream which seems most likely, but only see the ability for node Js, Python2/3, and Shell for custom integrations.
Any idea on how to run powershell?

Can't ping VM host from CMD/DOS prompt
I installed an older version of VMWare (v12.x) because my PC doesn't support new versions. I got it set up and created a VM based on
CentOS. It boots up fine and I see it grabbed an IP in the same subnet as the host. However, I cannot ping from the host (a Windows 10 PC)
to this VM, nor can I ping from the VM to my PC's IP address.
I even tried manually configuring an IP address in the VM and can't ping between the host and guest. I tried using both a Bridged connection
and NAT in the VM with no luck.
Any idea why I can't ping between the host and guest?

Horizonのサブスクリプションライセンスについて
VMConAWS上にて動作させるHorizonについて勉強しているのですが、
Horizonをクラウドにて利用する場合には、サブスクリプションライセンスが必要とまでは分かったのですが、
その中身の違いがいまいちわからないので教えてください。
上記資料P18あたりにあるようにライセンスが全部で以下6種類あるように見えておりますが,

WS1 Access Connector Questions
I want to activate WS1 Access Connector (Identity Manager Connector ver19.03) to WS1 Access (SaaS).
However, the activation code for WS1 Access Connector cannot be generated.
Is version 19.03 not supported for WS1 Access (SaaS) version?
I am trying to use an older version because the version supporting Horizon is 19.03

WS1 Accessにログインできない。
WS1 AccessとVMC上に作成したADサーバを連携させるために、IDM Connector 19.03を接続することまでは出来たのですが、
その後のInteligent Hubのログイン画面にてADサーバのドメインを指定すると以下エラーが表示されてしまい、ログインできません。
何か対処方法、同様の事象について心当たりございましたらご助言頂けると幸いです。
目的としては HorizonとWS1 Accessの連携をさせるのが目的であり、19.03を利用しております。
また状況としてはWS1 Accessの設定上にてユーザの同期についてエラー等は発生しておらず、ユーザ管理画面にて
ローカルのドメイン内にいるユーザが表示されて見えております。

Horizon View 7.10 + RHEL 7.7 virtual machine = black screen when connecting
I've got a ESXi 6.7 virtual machine running Redhat Workstation 7.6.
Horizon view agent installs without issue and regsiters with the connection server.
RHEL VM has been integrated with AD using SSSD. Domain users can log in via SSH without issue.
I can establish a session from the connection server but all I get is a black screen. Black screen sits for about 30 seconds and then terminates.
I've tried this with HZ 7.9 and 7.10.
Also re-installed vmware tools multiple times (with re-installing the agent after the tools are installed)
Also tried with a Nvidia GPU attached (passthrough using quadro driver) and without a GPU attached. I get the same behavior.
firewalld/iptables is disabled.

Workstation 15.X. All guests can ping google.com but none can browse it
Using the latest workstation 15. Just bought it. I have a linux guest and a Windows guest. Using bridged. I disabled my wired NIC in Windows and told the network configuration to use the wireless NIC only instead of automatic. I've tried bridged and vmnet0. I can ping anything and everything, but I can't browse.

What? Entrust no longer provides full chain certificates for? How do we get AWCM to work?
We are currently migrating from server 2012 to server 2016 in our test environment. We have all of our certs in place and applied the SSL cert when asked for it while installing AWCM. Now when we test the AWCM connection it will fail. We noticed that the certificate did not include all the chains so we asked our cert team to renew the certificate so that it has the full chain. They tried a couple of times and ended up getting Entrust on a call. Entrust told them that they no longer provide full chain certificates. Seriously? We got into the Java keystore and imported the two intermediate certificates thinking that it would take care of the issue, but it did not. Below is one of the errors that we are seeing in the AWCM logs. Anyone have any ideas what we are missing or is Entrust possibly incorrect when they tell us that they no longer create full chain certificates. Thank you!!

If you logon to the appliance via the console you can see in the /etc/login.defs file the configured Password Aging settings as shown below.

How to incorporate If/Else csv check when deploying multiple VMs
I have a script that I'm working on that will deploy multiple VMs from a csv. I'm trying to get the script to look at a field in the csv, and if blank, do this, if data, do it this other way.
There's a lot of extra fluff in the script, but here's the relevant info:

Not every site I am working on will have vCenter clusters setup (or may have multiple). So what I was trying to do was check if the Cluster cell is blank, and if so, use the New-VM line above, and if it's not blank, then add in a -ResourcePool $Cluster.
I was trying to replace the above New-VM line with something like:

Anyone have any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

Disaster Recovery Procedure with just one vCenter and one NSX Manager
Hi guys,
I ask you whether some of you know or have experience, or have any document where it would be described the good practice for a Disaster Recovery plan when you have an infrastructure with one vCenter, one NSX Manager and two different sites.
My scenario is two sites, Site-A the main site and the Site-B the Recovery Site. The vCenter, NSX Manager and Controller Cluster is deployed in Site-A.
Site A:
One Cluster with 6 ESXi
One Distributed Switch
Site B:
One Cluster with 4 ESXi
One Distributed Switch
The Transport Zone spans accross the two DVS.
I have one Logical Switch that extends over the two sites with one DLR connected to that switch.
In each site I have an ESG that connect with the DLR via a Transit Network (also a NSX Logical Switch). Each ESG at each site forms a BGP Neighboring against the DLR to advertise a default route to the DLR. In the DLR I configured the advertisements of ESG of Site-A with a greater weight, so the default route of it it takes precedence over the one advertised by the ESG of Site-B.
The DLR Control VMs (they are in HA) are in site-A.
When I did the first recovery site plan test I found the following problems, that I could solved but I don't know if I did it in the correct way:
1) I supposed that all site A was down.
2) I started up a replica of the vCenter in site B with the last changes made in site A
3) I started up a NSX Replica in site B with the last changes made in Site B
4) At this point I had the vCenter and NSX Manager exactly as I had it in Site A, connected with each other and working ok.
5) When I tried to deploy a new cluster of controllers in Site B I came across with the old controller cluster that were working at Site A, because for the NSX Manager Database those controllers were up and running. Because I didn't have any connection with Site-A (cause I was simulating a total site failure), I couldn't deploy a new controller node because there was no controller up to join the cluster. I neither could delete any of the old controllers because the vCenter didn't have connection to those VMs that were at Site-A.
Solution for this point:
I deleted all the controllers using the API calls and after that, I could deploy the new controller cluster.
Is this the correct way to overcome this controllers issue??? Is the correct design the one I'm using?? I have the 3 controllers in Site-A, but when this site comes down I lose the possibility to deploy a new controller cluster until I delete the old one.
6) After that, the 4 ESXi that were at Site-B appeared as not configured, not prepared, no channel communication. I had to prepared them again. I tried to chose the "Resolve All" to solve the problems but the hosts stayed in red with "Not Ready" label in the NSX Version. However, the NSX communication works Oks. In other infrastructure I had with NSX it happened the same. The hosts preparation tab appears with errors, with communication channel in red, but everything works OK. It seems as it would be a GUI issue that doesn't show the correct host preparation s
7) When I wanted to redeploy the DLR Control VMs I found the truly problem of this plan. Because the redeployment option for the Edges tries to redeploy them at the same resources they were running. But in this case those resources (cluster, hosts and datastores) were not accessible. I couldn't neither edit the Control VM properties in the configure tab of the edge (the option you use when you want to migrate the control VM to another host for example), because in that cause it did the deployment in the hosts of Site-B, but the last step of it is to turn of the old Control VM at Site-A. Because it didn't find those original VMs, the whole process failed.
So, at this point I didn't have any choice to redeploy the control VMs.
Solution for this point:
I had again to use the APIs to redeploy the control VMs, but changing the configured cluster ID, the configured datastore ID and the configured host ID that the edge had configured in the NSX Manager Database for the new values that pointed to the new cluster, datastore and hosts in Site-B.
Bottom Line:
As you can see, I could overcome the issues I found, but it is a hardly procedure. This is the correct procedure recommended by VMware? Is there any one simpler?

Vmware horizon 7.5 disabling usb redirection for some users not all.
Basically what I am trying to achieve is to stop users from copying files from the vdi to USB or their local workstation drives which are attaching in drive redirection. How can I do this?

HD not recognized by esxi
I installed a new 2TB drive. The BIOS (supermicro server) recognizes, but esxi does not recognize the new hd. Could anyone help?↧
