Up-gradation Issues of vROPs 7.5 to vROPs 8.0.1

We were trying to upgrade vRealize Operations version from 7.5 to 8.0.1.

 

While performing the same, we got stuck in between the activity, at stage 5 and from there it was not proceeding further. All the pre-reqs are checked and on their place however upgradation got stuck.

 

We had considered all the pre-requisites of up-gradation, deleted all the impacted Management Packs, tried to upgrade it keeping the cluster offline and even online but it still gets stuck and does not proceed beyond stage 5. All the pre-checks have been confirmed.

 

 

Please help in identifying the issue.

Horizon 5.2 won't update to 5.4. exe file fails to install. Windows 10 edu 1909

I have Horizon 5.2 from the microsoft store. I need 5.4 which I downloaded directly from vmware. It fails to install. Install failed 20+ times.

 

Tried: updating computer, clearing cache, disabling antivirus, running as admin, redownloading from the link, redownloading directly from VMWare.com, installing in clean boot (but forgot to turn off antivirus and firewall during) turned off antivirus from the registry editor, disabled firewall, manually editing the host file (no idea if I did it right),

 

That's the limit of my tech knowledge. Help is greatly appreciated. Attached are the most recent logs

Tracking VM creation and deletion in vROPs without vRLI

Hi Team,

 

I want to create alerts in my vROPs 7.0 which would track VM creation and deletion. I don't want to use vRLI in this specific case. Is there any way that i can create an event in vROPs for the same and setup an alert?

Discover vCenter Server Services using SDDC Management in vROPs

Need help in setting up SDDC Management Pack to discover vCenter Server services. Using MP of version 6.0. Have set the credentials as well but the services have not been discovered yet. Please help in this.

vSphere 7.0 and b120i

Hi,

 

is there any chance to run my HPE Micoserver Gen8 / Smart array b120i with vSphere 7.0? On update it shows error, that those drivers don't work. So I abort update.

vSphere 6.7U3 just works fine on that machine.

Vsphere data protection - installation don't finish

Hello

 

I am having troubles with the installation of a VDP in "Replication Tarjet mode" and ask for help about it.

 

The asistant finish with ok all the tests and restart de VM but after that, in VCenter the task still at 70%. I have waited for a day and nothing changes.

 

When I try to access to VMIP:8543/vdp-configure/, the assistant starts again. If I try to refill all the steps (it remembers all the configuration), I cant pass the point that ask for "Create Storage".

The av_log file shows this.

 

And the status.dpn command, this

Has anyone idea about this and how to solve it?

На добавление есть команды, а на удаления нету у меня

ESXi 6.5 -> /opt/smartstorageadmin/ssacli/bin/ssacli ctrl slot=0 array all add spares=2I:1:6,2I:1:7

people from different IT team uploaded same iso images file in to different datastore and clusters. Now need to get the info.
Can expert please guide me how to get the list of items of datastore. mainly i need to see location of iso files of different OS which are uploaded to datastorage.

Can Viruses Escape from my Virtual machines?

I recently started posting tech videos about virtual machines on youtube and I want to test viruses in my virtual machines for my YouTube account, but I am unsure how do I set a VMware workstation pro 14 virtual machine correctly so virus can not get to my main unit. Does anyone know what setting shuld I apply for me to make sure the Viruses stay contained?

Just like we have a dedicated url to get the mob of management service ({vCenter_IP}/mob) and vsan mob ({vCenter_IP}/vsan/mob).
Do we have a specific url present to access the MOB or the content of Single Sign On in vCenter 6.7?

Cross vCenter vMotion between 6.0 and 6.7

I'm working on a migration project and we have one final cluster to migrate. This cluster uses ACI in combination with the Cisco AVS. The AVS is not supported on ESXi 6.7 so I need to come up with a migration plan. But that is easier said than done... My suggested plan is to create a new VMM domain in ACI and point that to the new vCenter Server. This will create a DVS in the new vCenter Server. The next step would be to evacuate a host, disconnect it from the old vCenter Server and connect it to the new vCenter Server. The final step would be a cross vCenter vMotion from the old vCenter to the new vCenter. I could use the Cross vCenter Workload Migration Utility | VMware Flings but for this to work both vCenters must be in Linked Mode. Is it possible to configure this even after both vCenter Servers already have been installed?

 

The old vCenter is a Windows 6.0 U3i with an external PSC. The new vCenter is a VCSA 6.7 U3c with embedded PSC.

 

Any idea's how to do this migration?

Accessing from browser we have the error: "503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http16LocalServiceSpecE:0x00007fb6f803bc50] _serverNamespace = /ui action = Allow _port = 5090)"

 

I haven't found kb or articles about this problem.

IDFW (Identity firewall) with NSX-T 2.5.1 not working

Does anyone here have actual experience getting the IDFW feature to work on 2.5.1 or 2.5.0?  I have been working with VMware support and we have not been able to successfully get this to work.  I have plenty of experience with this is NSX-V, but let's keep this focused on NSX-T.

 

Scenario:

 

UserA logs into a virtual desktop through horizon and needs to access an entire subnet(SubnetA) that has been dedicate to UserA.

UserB logs into a virtual desktop through horizon and needs to access an entire subnet(SubnetB) that has been dedicate to UserB.

 

UserA should not be able to access UserB's subnet and UserB should not be able to access UserA's subnet.

I also want the ability to put UserA or UserB into certain AD groups that would allow access to more universal resources such as specific items in SubnetC.

 

I have an AD group for each user and each user assigned to their AD group.

1 DFW rule exists for each user and that particular user is the source of each rule.

The destination of each rule is the dedicated subnet for that user.

 

I can see traffic hit the rule and head to the destination subent (a test vm exists with windows FW off) but the VM does not reply to the request (RDP).

I can RDP to test VM from another subnet that has a rule that is like "AdminVm -> any" and it connects fine, so i know it's not the VM.

 

What rule am I missing to make this work?  Screenshot of current rules attached.

I want to automatically connect USB devices to a virtual machine in Esxi

The problem:

When HOST is turned off or restarted the settings disappear and need to be manually added again (controller remains)

Do you know a solution?

unable to copy files to nfs datastore : result empty file

Hello,

esx 5 on a server with storage disk.

I added two external nas via nfs.

On the one of two nas i can do everything but it's very small.

On the other nas i have these important problems (named nasdico02pu)

 

 

I can't copy from disk to nas a file, for example using ssh.

 

 

# cp myfile.txt /vmfs/volumes/nasdico02pu

# cp: can't open '/vmfs/volumes/nasdico02pu/myfile.txt': File exists

 

 

Obviusly before copy there wasn't any file.

The result is that in nasdico02pu i have the myfile.txt but it's empty (0KB)

 

 

Using vsphere client i have the same result browsing datastore and trying to copy or move a file to nasdico02pu.

On the other hand, always using vsphere client, browsing nasdico02pu datastore, i can upload files (with the button, i mean).

 

 

Unfortunately i have to use the nas to make snapshots

Please help, because i need it for backup.
